Wednesday 11 May

Starting to lose days here, 2.5 weeks that I have been here now and so greatfull that Dad will be on his way to So City soon as I am starting to lose perspective. Each day is a version of the day before  so all starting to settle into a familiar quiet routine. Loads of sorting to do but the only reward is that things are more organised or FOUND when they were lost, but nothing concrete to show for it at the end. Yesterday I manged to start a few small sewing projects so I can feel like I am producing something and it is nice to hear the sewing machines going.
Gramps desired to have a lower level day yesterday so he got up late, stayed in His pjs and robe al day and went to bed before 8. there were a few visitors hitch punctuated the day. First visitor was Krista and Noah and Santino and Linda just before 2. They arrived with In and Out burgers fries and Krispy Creme donuts, gramps was already working his way through a pretty ordinRy lunch so he moved across and worked his way through at least a few donuts. Noah and Linda stayed and Noah watched the Giants game with Gramps. Next visitors were two ladies from Nonis sewing group, Joanne who calls and visits Noni regularly and Graciella. They stayed for some time and Noni eventually told them about the big move. They were sad and asked her why how she could leave her wonderful home but she made it through that test and said yes she was sad but the house was just getting to be too much and they would be going together. Next visit was Lee Ekstrom Stupi who was always Dads favourite of all the Ekstrom kids. He always called her Snuffie, can't really remember why. She stayed a long time, spent first Half hour with Dad and heard about his near demise and the another good hour with Mom and Linda and I, lots of fun. When we left Pecks lots and we moved to this house in 1956 the Ekstroms  lived just up the hill nod had 4 kids  so we would spend lots of time up there. In sorting through the drawers in the sewing room I found a small stash of aprons. Noni has decided that she wants to take a few aprons "over there" (coming to be the term she uses for Atria and she can never remember the name). But there were too many and there were a few that needed sewing help. So we washed them all and I have fixed two of three so far. The. She was excited and got inspired then and dig out a piece of material that she wanted made into an apron, so I can keep going with some sewing now.  She only wants a few and wants the others to be passed on to family. So I have a bit more work to do there.
There is a small Jamaican restaurant on Linden next to the Post Office. I had to walk down there yesterday to pick up the change of address form for Gramps and as it was coming up to Lunch time I picked up an order of their Jerk chicken wings. These were pretty good I think we will be giving that place a bit more custom. There are loads of little restaurants to try, Korean Vietnamise Thai and a new Indian  place, plus all the regulars. Might be able to test some of those when Dad is here.
On the food front Ian regularly picking up fruit at the little Mexican market across from the Library and close to Antigua. Nonis bananas which they eat every day but also naval oranges, mandarins peaches and nectarines.  The oranges especially are beautiful and I cut up an orange every morning in very thin peeled slices and leave it in a bowl and Noni and Gramps pick their way through it by lunch time. They eat so much processed or poor quality foodstuffs so it is a quiet feel good thing for me.
